Her stage name Bea was in tribute to her father. Bea wrote an opinion piece in The Guardian, published in 2017 on her journey dealing with suicide. Bea was raised alongside her younger sister Sinead by Helen Moloney. Helen is a secondary teacher, jockey trainer and a former professional racer. The family was obsessed with racing as well as horses. Bea was a trainer for the Irish National Stud in her beginning teens. She knew, however, that racing wasn't what she wanted to pursue in a career and she preferred doing.
